The HERO table was designed as a canvas with endless possibilities.
Back in 2010, POPP’s founders had the grand plan to match- make ping pong and public art. Acutely aware of the engagement opportunities of community-driven (and created) artwork – for the artists, the players and the passersby – the indestructible, steel HERO table was designed as a canvas with endless possibilities.
Since then, POPP tables have been used by hundreds of communities in Australia and the United States to create numerous Public Playable Artworks. Increasingly, schools are engaging their students in the DIY Artwork process and in doing so, are providing an opportunity for students to gain a sense of pride and ownership over their learning space – in addition to creating a completely unique art piece for the school.
Utilising the POPP DIY Artwork Information document – which includes instructions, checklists and artwork examples (be they original artworks or school emblems), schools can engage their students to design, develop and apply playable artwork to their HERO or ICON table.
